Menace2Sports NFL Locks: WEEK ONE

The NFL is Back!! And Menace2Sports has you covered with the locks every week. We merely dabbled in random sports picks in the “off-season” but our gurus were a solid 8-2 overall after 10 picks.

We are going to pick four games per weekend for the NFL and track our picks throughout the year. Hopefully, you can play along, use the picks and build that bank roll. Be sure to check in with us every week! You will be a Menace to your local Sportsbook.

Without further ado, here are your NFL Week 1 Locks:

Lock #1 – Houston at KANSAS CITY (-9)

This seems like a big number. However, since 2000, defending Super Bowl Champs are 13-6-1 ATS (against the spread) in week one the following year. Last season, KC won their final six games by 10 or more points. Houston is ready for a decent season but we expect them to start out slow with the loss of DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona.

Lock #2 – Miami at NEW ENGLAND (-6)

It’s the Patriots. Their record ATS in the regular season at home under Belicheck is insane, particularly when they are favored by 4-8 points. Cam Newton steps into the system with a point to prove. Also, let’s not forget about the Patriots defense last year just feasting on lowly competition. We like them to cause Fitzmagic a lot of problems. Lay it.

Lock #3 – Over / Under Lock – LA Chargers at Cincinnati Over 43.5 Points

The Joe Burrow era has begun. It’s the second year for the Bengals under Zac Taylor and now he has QB excitement as well as some weapons. We like the Bengals offense to be ready to put up some points early in the year. Also, they have some missing pieces in the back end. We look for Tyrod Taylor and company to have an okay time as well. There should be points in this game with great weather in Cincinnati.

Lock #4 – The Underdog Lock – LA Chargers at CINCINNATI +3.5

This spread is a reaction to the Bengals being awful last year and now starting a rookie QB. However, they are going to be improved this year. They are healthier and they have more weapons. Also, the Chargers are tough to trust in the Eastern time zone. If you play both Cincinnati +3.5 and Over 43.5 points, you are essentially betting that the Bengals can score 20 points. Do the math; if the Bengals score 20 points, one of your bets is going to win. However, we think they both will win as the Bengals earn a week one upset with a final score of 27-24 on a Randy Bullock walk-off field goal.
